NZOWASCO, registered under the Companies Act (CAP 486) in 2004, is mandated to provide cost-effective and affordable quality water and sanitation services to the towns of  Bungoma, Webuye, Chwele and Kimilili. Chwele scheme was incorporated in 2017.

As per the Service Provision Agreement (SPA) with Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency (LVNWWDA), NZOWASCO is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring necessary expertise in technical, commercial, financial, and administrative functions for the mentioned towns within Bungoma county

  2. Providing services within the defined Service Area.

  3. Obtaining necessary licenses, permits, and warranties.

  4. Maintaining assets and not disposing of them without authorization.

  5. Meeting Performance Targets set by the licensor.

  6. Developing proposals to enhance service delivery.

  7. Managing customer connections, disconnections, and reconnections, and charging for services.

  8. Protecting the environment and accessing land, property, and water sources within the service area..

NZOWASCO also collects, conveys and treats wastewater generated in the County. Our activities are regulated by various legislations key among them the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Water Act 2016, the County Water Act 2021, Planning Act, Public Health, EMCA and County Government Act. The services are levied using the tariff as set out and published by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).
